Angus breeders and enthusiasts led 137 entries at the 2006 Ohio State Fair Angus Show, August 8 in Columbus, Ohio. Chad Wilson, Cloverdale, Ind., evaluated the 92 females, 38 bulls, and seven cow-calf pairs before selecting champions.
Maplecrest Rita 472 was named grand champion female after first topping the senior division. Lindsey Grimes, Hillsboro, Ohio, owns the September 2004 daughter of GAR Expectation 4915.
Reserve grand champion female honors went to Paradise Lady 508. The January 2005 daughter of Exar Lutton 1831 is owned by Jordon Mullett, Coshocton, Ohio. She first won junior champion.
DCC Belle's Traveler 406 claimed grand champion bull honors after first winning senior champion. Bill Dean, New Castle, Pa., owns the February 2004 son of SVF Traveler 112G.
APS DR Institute was named reserve grand champion bull. The July 2004 son of SAV Limited Edition 9283 is owned by Anne Patton Schubert, Taylorsville, Ky. He first won reserve senior champion.
Anne Patton Schubert also exhibited the grand champion cow-calf pair. APS Eneta Helin is a February 2004 daughter of BR Midland. Her calf is a March 2006 bull sired by GAR Integrity.
Reserve grand champion cow-calf pair honors went to DAJS Moonshine 168. Kayla Alexander, Sabina, Ohio, owns the May 2003 daughter of Northern Improvement 4480 GF. A January 2006 heifer calf sired by TC Freedom 104 completes the winning pair.
