Five days of Angus events, including the 2007 Super Point Roll of Victory (ROV) Angus Show, junior heifer show, pen and carload show and the National Western Angus Bull Sale are planned during the 101st National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colo. The activities begin with the junior heifer show at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 9, in the Stadium Arena. Bruce Kiesewetter, Letts, Iowa, will evaluate the juniors' Angus females.

The female portion of the Super Point ROV Angus Show will begin at 8 a.m., Wednesday, January 10, in the Stadium Arena. The ROV bull show will resume on Friday, January 12 at 8 a.m. Jim Pipkin, Republic, Mo., will evaluate the cattle.

The National Western Angus Bull Sale highlights the events on Thursday, January 11. The bull sale show begins at 9 a.m. in the Stadium Arena. Five judges will evaluate the 76 bulls and select division and grand champions and reserves. Judges include Brian Barragree, Absarokee, Mont.; Mike Jones, Folsom, La.; Greg McCurry, Sedgwick, Kan.; Doug Parrett, Urbana, Ill.; and Matt Perrier, Eureka, Kan. The sale begins at 2 p.m. in the Beef Palace Auction Arena, and will be broadcast via the Internet at www.liveauctions.tv. A sale catalog can be viewed online at www.angusjournal.com or requested by calling the American Angus AssociationSM. The sale of the 2007 Angus Foundation Heifer Package will precede the bull sale.

The Angus reception will complete Thursday's activities at 6:30 p.m. A change of venue this year, the reception will be at the Denver Center for Performing Arts. Transportation will be provided from the Marriott City Center.

Angus activities conclude on Saturday, January 13, with the pen and carload shows in the yards. The event begins 30 minutes earlier than in the past at 8:30 a.m. in the Livestock Center Auction Arena. Mark Duffell, Aldie, Va.; Jeff Dameron, Lexington, Ill.; and Bill Rishel, North Platte, Neb., will officiate the group competitions.

An Angus “Listening Post” will again be located in the Yards. Look for a larger tent across from where it was previously located and stop by for a cup of coffee. The Listening Post is available for visitors Wednesday through Saturday. Association members and commercial cattle producers are encouraged to stop by the Angus tent in the yards to talk about current beef industry issues, visit with Association staff, ask questions and exchange ideas.

In addition, the Angus booth on the hill will have the latest Association publications, and Association staff will be available to visit there.
