IBBA MOVES TO TOTAL HERD REPORTING

The International Brangus Breeders Association (IBBA) as of January 2006 moved to a Total Herd Reporting (THR) system. This is a straight forward system designed to promote collection of performance data of progeny from registered Brangus cattle.

Brangus is the only American breed to date to implement this progressive step and become a data driven breed. THR requires records on all progeny. For commercial producers, the move to THR will in the future, provide more accurate EPDs for bull evaluations, as in the past the records were based on only what information breeders chose to submit. With THR, all data will be reported and entered into the calculations.

In addition, the system allows for commercial cattle out of registred parentage to have performance data entered and not be registered.

This bold step is another way the IBBA is providing services and programs that will assist their commercial customers and their efforts to remain profitable.
