Gelbvieh Profit Partners announces the hiring of Slim Cook from Cody, Wyo., as cattle buying coordinator. Cook replaces John Carrel, who served as the interim Chief Operating Officer from April through October 1, 2006.
Cook has 14 years of experience as an independent livestock broker. He has built a diverse clientele over the years, such as yearling operators, farmer feeders, investor cattle feeders and large corporate cattle feeders. He has experience utilizing commodity futures and options for risk management. For the past six years, Cook has operated his own livestock brokerage and ranch real estate business.
Cook earned his bachelor's degree in Animal Science from California State University-Chico and a master's degree in Animal Science from Montana State University.
Cook began with Gelbvieh Profit Partners on October 1. His duties will include procuring cattle for Gelbvieh Profit Partners, developing relationships with feedyards and auction barns, as well as risk management for Gelbvieh Profit Partners.
