The International Brangus
Breeders Association (IBBA) recently announced the 2005 Show Heifer and Show
Bull of the Year honors. The coveted awards were given during activities at the
combined National Junior Brangus Show and the International Brangus Futurity,
in June in West Monroe, La.
The show animal of the year awards are an accumulation of points tallied from
placing in the four national shows, which include the Futurity, International
Show in Houston, National Show of Merit and Western National Show. Points are
given to each animal based on their placing in class as well as additional
points awarded for being selected a division champion or reserve champion and
Grand or Reserve Grand Champion. The animal totaling the most points at the
completion of the circuit receives the award.
Miss JLS Hestia 915P24, owned by JLS International, Robertsdale, Alabama and
Devine, Texas received the Heifer of the Year honor. She was named the 2005
Reserve Grand at the National Show of Merit in addition to class wins at the
Futurity and Arizona National. She is a daughter of Newsmaker of Brinks 71Z4.
Mr. TF Bright Side 535N, owned by Radale Tiner, Hempstead, Texas was named Show
Bull of the year. The January 2003 bull was the reserve grand champion at the
2005 National Show of Merit and Brangus Futurity. He is sired by Bright Side
of Brinks.
