The 10 producers who registered the most Angus beef cattle in the state of Alabama recorded a total of 1746 Angus with the American Angus AssociationSM during fiscal year 2006, which ended September 30, according to John Crouch, executive vice president of the American Angus Association.
The 10 top recorders in Alabama are: Frank V Turner, Mobile, 327-head; Ray Cattle Company, Hackleburg, 318; Alex City Cattle Co, Alexander City, 198; One Way Angus Farm L L C, Enterprise, 190; John Fleming, Snead, 154-head; Turner & Ramsay Farms LLC, Mobile, 123; Macedon Farms, Madison, 115; Garrison Farms, Thorsby, 111; Robert Bunch, Center Star, 109-head; Bobo Angus Farm, Ardmore, 101.
Angus breeders across the nation in 2006 registered 347,572 head of Angus cattle compared to 324,266 in fiscal 2005. “The year-end statistics indicate a strong demand for Angus genetics in commercial herds as producers continue to focus on end-product quality and its effect on their bottom line,” Crouch said.
The American Angus Association, headquartered in Saint Joseph, Missouri, is the largest beef registry association in the world in terms of both annual registrations and active members. For more information about the Angus breed go to www.angus.org.
