City, Mo. One hundred and sixteen bred-and-owned bulls competed for grand and reserve champion honors at the eighth annual Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE) in Denver, July 12. Randy Daniel, Colbert, Ga., judged the bull show. I just don't believe we are going to see any bad cattle at this Jr. Nationals. The quality is just so high. said Daniel. It is an impressive sight when you see one good class after the next.
Rylee Barber, Channing, Texas, captured grand champion bull honors with BR DM Bodacious ET by Remitall Online 122L. His expected progeny differences (EPDs) read BW 2.8; WW 58; YW 65; MM 25; and M&G 54. Daniels commented that in the final drive BR DM Bodacious ET offered the most genetic value combined with his physical characteristics.
The reserve grand champion bull, KJ C&L BJ 204 Authentic 294S, a son of KJ BJ Bounty Hunter 741P, was exhibited by Brooke Jensen, Courtland, Kan. KJ C&L BJ 204 Authentic 294S showed with EPDs of BW 3.5; WW 43; YW 66; MM 19; and M&G 41.
Graham Blagg, Grass Valley, Calif., exhibited the grand champion junior AI bull, SS KGB Mister Bob 7B5. The son of /S Mister Mom 7745 showed with EPDs of BW 3.8; WW 50; YW 85; MM 21; and M&G 46. This division is for bulls that are the result of participating in the National Junior Hereford Association (NJHA) Junior AI program. The program allows for NJHA members to receive free semen and certificates.
