Kansas City, Mo., March 26, 2007 – Charolais producers can now take advantage of an age- and source-verification program designed specifically for Charolais genetics. The American-International Charolais Association (AICA) has launched Charolais Advantage™, an age- and source-verified program designed to add more value to Charolais genetics. Co-branded through IMI Global's USVerified™ PVP program, Charolais Advantage will provide additional marketing opportunities to those producers using Charolais genetics in their herds.

“Charolais and Charolais-influence cattle account for large numbers in virtually every feedyard in the country. The commercial segment of the beef production system understands the value of Charolais genetics, both in the feedyard and on the rail. It is important for the AICA to provide a service opportunity with the potential to add significant premiums to Charolais cattle,” commented Neil Orth, AICA Executive Vice President.

Cattle enrolled in the program must be sired by a registered Charolais bull or a son of a registered Charolais bull. Calves out of Charolais cows sired by registered Charolais bulls are also eligible. All registration information will be verified through the AICA office. Approved cattle will be eligible to carry a blue Charolais Advantage tag. Tags may be purchased as a conventional panel tag or a nested pair consisting of a panel tag and an electronic identification device (EID) at the time of enrollment.

AICA's Marilou Wegner will serve as coordinator of the program. For more information or enrollment packets, contact Marilou at (816) 464-5977 x400 or e-mail
