Thirteen deserving National Junior Santa Gertrudis Association members were awarded scholarships at the 2007 National Junior Santa Gertrudis Heifer Show. This year the National Santa Gertrudis Youth Foundation awarded an impressive $30,000. The NSGYF also increased the top scholarship from $5,000 to $6,000 and this year two of those scholarships were awarded to juniors who have shown a tremendous amount of dedication to the Santa Gertrudis breed as well as maintain an excellent academic record. The following is a list of scholarships awarded: $6,000 Butler Foundation Paul Wunderlich, Brenham, Texas; $6,000 Polled Association and NSGYF Emilio Sanchez, New Mexico; $3,000 John and Helen Wood Anna McDaniel, Georgia; $3,000 Bailey and Mina Dunlap and NSGYF Kelsey Jones, Texas; $2,000 Wylie and BJ Taliaferro and NSGYF Brazos Peacock, Texas; $2000 Carolyn and Joe Garrett Lauren Minix, Texas; $2,000 John H. Wilson Rozlyn Austin, Texas; $1,500 Richard/Judy Hood and Bubba/Karen Deagen Micah Morgan, Texas; $1,500 Wayne Jacks/June Beaver and Vernon Lane Justin Weyl, Arkansas; $1,000 NSGYF Jake Powell, Texas; $1,000 NSGYF Juan Chavez, New Mexico; $500 NSGYF Logan Parsons, Texas; $500 NSGYF Rosita Lopez, New Mexico.
