The 10 producers who registered the most Angus beef cattle in the state of Alabama recorded a total of 1764 Angus with the American Angus Association® during fiscal year 2007, which ended September 30, according to John Crouch, executive vice president of the American Angus Association.
The 10 top recorders in Alabama are: Ray Cattle Company, Hackleburg, 437-head; Garrison Farms, Thorsby, 206; Alex City Cattle Co, Alexander City, 178; John Fleming, Snead, 162; Robert Bunch, Center Star, 152-head; T K S Farms, Millry, 143; Macedon Farms, Madison, 138; Bobo Angus Farm, Huntsville, 120; Sherrod Farms, Oneonta, 118-head; Plummer Cattle & Timber Ltd, Marion Junction, 110.
Angus breeders across the nation in 2007 registered 347,755 head of Angus cattle. “The year-end statistics indicate a strong demand for Angus genetics in commercial herds as producers continue to focus on end-product quality and its effect on their bottom line,” Crouch said.
The American Angus Association, headquartered in Saint Joseph, Missouri, is the largest beef registry association in the world in terms of both annual registrations and active members. For more information about the Angus breed go to www.angus.org.
