ROSE NAMED BIF PRESIDENT
MT- Former American Simmental Association (ASA) Trustee, Lora Rose, Colville, WA, was elected to the Presidency of the Beef Improvement Federation (BIF), long regarded as the most respected of all beef cattle performance organizations. She becomes the fourth consecutive BIF President with ties to the American Simmental Association. The election was held during the BIF's Annual Meeting, held in Fort Collins, CO, June 6-9.
The ASA was well-represented at the 2007 BIF meeting. Current ASA Trustees, Tommy Brown (BIF President-elect), Beth Mercer, Monte Alto, TX; Harry Moser, Wheaton, KS; and Curtis Russell, Sugar City, CO, were on had along with former Trustees Rose and Nichols, as well as Willie Altenburg, Fort Collins, CO; and Sarah Buxkemper, Ballinger, TX.
CEO Jerry Lipsey led an ASA staff contingent of Mary Ropp, Wade Shafer, Courtney Kealey, Kelly Schmidt, and Wes Tiemann. Shafer serves as a member of the BIF Board of Directors.
Headquartered in Bozeman, Montana, the American Simmental Association maintains the breed registries for the Simmental and Simbrah breed of cattle. The organization has an active adult and junior membership of more than 8,000. For more information, please visit www.simmental.org.
