CHAMPIONS NAMED AT ANNUAL BRANGUS FUTURITY

The annual Brangus® Futurity, which is considered the event of the summer for exhibitors was once again held in conjunction with the National Junior Brangus Heifer Show, July 23rd in West Monroe, La. The judge for this year's show was Wes Hudson from Arkansas.

Brody Shumake, DeKalb, Texas saw his Heifer Calf Champion, Ms Iron Farm John Wayne 197S, take the Grand Champion Female Honors, while Broken A Miss Star 123S was named Grand Champion Red Female for owner Stofa Rosa Ranch, Willis Texas. She was the Calf Champion also. Reserve Grand Champion Black Female honors went to OSU Big Easy Miss 5207, who was the Junior Champion and owned by Katy Knox, LaPorte,Texas. Reserve Grand Champion Red Female was Miss –C- Prototype 317S, also owned by Knox.

In the bull shown, Sankey's Revolt 860R, owned by Sankey's 6N Ranch, Council Grove, Kansas and Diamond K Ranch, Montgomery City, Mo. won the black show, after capturing the Junior Champion Division. CX Promise Keeper 84/R, owned by Cox Excalibur Ranch, Katy, Texas was named Grand Champion Red Bull as well as the Senior Division winner. CX Home Run 135/P, also owned by Cox was named Reserve Grand Champion and Reserve Senior Champion in the Red division. The Reserve bull was Hillin CC Rock Star 2R5, owned by Hillin Cattle Co., Waco, Texas and he was also the Reserve Junior Champion Bull.     

Other winners in the black female division included MC Shine 101T, Reserve Heifer Calf and owned by Traci Middleton, Puryear, Tenn. Miss JLS Ruby 22S4 and Miss JLS Mistie 915S5 respectively took the Summer Champion and Reserve Summer Champion honors for owner JLS International, Robertsdale, Ala. Abbie Jorgenson, Tyler, Texas saw her entry of Ms Polk Creek Blackhawk 146S win the Yearling division, while 2H Miss American 294S4, owned by Denny Douglass, Sequin, Texas took home the reserve title in that division. Matt Wellmann, Brenham, Texas won the Champion Senior honor with Ms Hillin CC Barbie 2R3 and Stephanie Climer, Bells, Tennessee won the reserve in that division with 5CC Ms Kelly 155R.

Red female division winners included Ms Brinks Rocky Street 1114S, owned by Alexandra Acord, Madisonville, Texas, who was the Reserve Heifer Calf Champion. CS Ms Dominator 71/S1 was the Red Summer Champion Female for owner, Cox Excalibur Ranch, while Ms SR Emily 83/S was the Reserve Summer Champion for Stofa Rosa Ranch, Willis, Texas. Katy Knox also her entry of R2R Vivien 65S, win Reserve Yearling honors. Gregory Munoz, Pearland, Texas won Senior Champion honors, while sister, Kelsey Munoz claimed the reserve title.     

Black bull division winners included Doguet's Diamond D Ranch, McCoy, Texas with DDD UC-Toughman 1019S12, calf champion; and Tiner's Transtar 27S, owned by Tiner Family Cattle, Hempstead, Texas as the reserve. Summer bull honors went to Mr. JLS Carnac 915S39, owned by JLS International and Don Thomas & Sons, Madison, Mo. Sankeys Sundance 307S1, owned Sankeys 6N Ranch and Elizabeth Mitchel, Council Grove, Kansas, was the Reserve Summer Champion. JLS returned to the winner's circle, with Mr. JLS Samson 915S3 as the Junior Yearling Champion. He is also owned with Dillard Cattle, Katy, Texas. MC Milwaukee 95S, exhibited by Traci Middleton was the Reserve Junior Yearling Champion. Senior Yearling honors went to Skyhawks Presidente, owned by Skyhawk Brangus, Tyler, Texas; and Reserve Senior Yearling bull was Laurens Getaway 04R3, owned by Laura Lettelier, Citra, Fla. Senior Champion Bull was Tiner's True Grit 336P, owned by the Tiner Family and SBR Mr. Valentino, owned by Heather Waldrop, Jackson, Miss., was the reserve in that division.     

In the red bull division other winners included BCC Hercules 307S1, as the bull calf champion for Buffaloe Cattle Co., Victoria, Texas. Cox Excalibur exhibited the Red Junior Yearling Champion, while Stofa Rosa exhibited the Reserve Junior Yearling bull, Ms SR Rebel 73/S. Junior Champion bull was SR Celebration 75R, also owned by Stofa Rosa Ranch.
