AMERICAN BREEDS COALITION TO HOLD PRODUCER SEMINARS

The American Breeds Coalition; an organization comprised of Beefmaster, Braford, Brahman, American Red Brangus, Santa Gertrudis and Simbrah will be holding two upcoming producer seminars in Oklahoma and Arkansas. The first seminar will take place at the Heritage Place Horse Sale Park in Oklahoma City on May 29 and the second will follow at the Pauline Whitaker Animal Science Center in Fayetteville, Ark. on May 31. These programs will consist of some of the top industry leaders sharing their experiences with the utilization of American Breed Cattle. The American Breeds Coalition has made an assertive effort to promote the American Breeds Cattle over the past 4 years through educational events as well as other joint promotion efforts and has made unprecedented strides. These seminars will be a continuation of these efforts as the promotion of these breeds is expanded into these two states.

The following are the schedule of events for these two programs:

                 

May 29, 2008 Program at the Heritage Place in Oklahoma City

2:00 – 2:20 -- Welcome – Dr. Charles Graham, President of America Breeds Coalition; Dr. Bob Whitson, Vice-President for Agricultural Programs and Dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Oklahoma State University; Ray Heldermon, President of Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association.

2:20 – 3:00 -- The Utilization of American Breed Cattle in a Beef Production System - Dick Davis, Oklahoma Dept. of Corrections

3:00 – 3:45 -- The Role of American Breed Cattle in Crossbreeding - Dr. Bob Kropp, Oklahoma State University, Animal Science Department.

3:45 – 4:00 – Break.

4:00 – 4:45 -- How the American Breeds Fit the Feeder, Packer and American Consumer - Dr. Gary Smith, Colorado State University, Animal Science Department.

4:45 – 5:30 -- Q&A Panel: Dick Davis, OK Dept. of Corrections; Dr. Bob Kropp, OSU; Kent Barnes, OSU; Feedyard Representative, Dr. Gary Smith, CSU; Moderator-Charlie Bradbury, Nolan Ryan Tender Aged Beef.

5:30 – 6:15 -- Social Time/ Visit Trade Show Booths

These seminars are being held cooperatively by the American Breeds Coalition, University of Arkansas, Oklahoma State University, Arkansas Cattlemens Association and the Oklahoma Cattlemens Association. ABC encourages you to plan to attend one of these events in your area as they jointly promote your breed of cattle.
