NEW SCHEDULE CHANGES FOR BLUE GRASS STOCKYARD

Lexington, Ky. - Blue Grass Stockyards in Lexington, Ky., the largest livestock market East of the Mississippi River and the most important point of price discovery in the cattle market in the Eastern US is announcing a change in their sale schedule on Wednesdays.

Historically, Wednesday has been a sale day for feeders and the time that stock cows have sold in Lexington. With lower cattle numbers in the service area the management believes it is in the best interest of the customer to concentrate the business on Mondays and Tuesdays. In an ever changing marketplace it is important for us to be as efficient as possible for our customers and as a business and this move helps us focus our resources and people on achieving that objective, said Jim Akers, COO for Blue Grass.

Blue Grass is not abandoning Wednesday sales but refocusing their efforts to better serve the customers. Beginning May 1, 2009 Blue Grass will cease the regularly scheduled Wednesday sale. The internet auctions will continue to be hosted at the Lexington location on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 5:00 PM. On the 4th Wednesday the internet sale will be followed by a stock cow sale beginning at 6:30PM. CPH 45 sales will be conducted seasonally as announced on Wednesday evenings as well.

Customers that have typically sold cattle on Wednesdays are encouraged to bring those cattle on Monday or Tuesday. If you have questions regarding this change or any other issue related to the Blue Grass operation please feel free to call David Holt or Jim Akers at 859-255-7701.
