BROWN HONORED FOR SERVICE TO RED ANGUS

Kelli Brown of the R. A. Brown Ranch in Throckmorton, Texas is the new President of the Red Angus Association of America (RAAA). Brown was elected by the RAAA Membership at their National Convention held in Cheyenne, Wyo., on September 18 19, 2008. She takes over the reins of the fourth largest breed association at a time of tremendous popularity, relevance and demand for Red Angus genetics. Brown will lead the RAAA into the future with the motivational skills to spur involvement and the ability to energize the membership while focusing on RAAA's core policies that center on the needs of the commercial cattlemen.

Brown has a long history of leadership and activity in the beef industry. A native of Nebraska, she graduated from Oklahoma State University and served as a National FFA President. She was also on the Red Angus Board of Directors for six years, including three of those years on the Executive Committee. Brown has been a Director and Secretary for the Texas Red Angus Association, served on various RAAA committees and represents RAAA on the Genetic Performance Solutions' Board of Directors. Kelli and her husband Donnell, are the proud parents of two boys, Tucker and Lanham. Together they manage and are co-owners of the R.A. Brown Ranch, along with the rest of the Brown family. They are the fifth generation to live and work on the 113 year old ranch that raises Red Angus, Angus, Sim-Angus, Hotlander and Quarter Horses. The R.A. Brown Ranch hosts an annual production sale the 2nd Wednesday in October and markets around 600 bulls along with a large selection of females.

Brown foresees great opportunity for the RAAA and its customer, the commercial cattlemen. As the beef industry charges forward in the current challenging times, Red Angus is positioned to supply the genetics needed to keep ranchers in business and the marketing programs that add value to their resulting calf crops.
