Brasstown, N.C. – Ridgefield Farm, Brasstown, N.C. was selected as the 2009 Braunvieh Association of America (BAA) Breeder of the Year at the BAA 25th anniversary annual meeting, national show and sale in conjunction with the National Western Stock Show, Denver Colo., January 13-15.

Ridgefield Farm was recognized for their progressive and integrated seedstock program where they offer breed leading genetics, complete performance and genetic evaluation of their cattle and a premium customer calf buy-back program. They are one of the few seedstock breeders that have their own GrowSafe® System which allows them to measure Residual Feed Intake (RFI) on every animal they produce. This innovative system is an academically proven method for evaluating feed efficiency in cattle.

Ridgefield Farm owner, Steve Whitmire, has been actively involved in several cattle, conservation, university organizations.
