San Antonio, Texas – The International Brangus Breeders Association has named Garrett R. Thomas as the Director of Member Relations and International Promotion. Thomas will work with Brangus seedstock producers to increase communication from the association to members while helping expand the visibility and market share of the breed domestically and abroad.

Dr. Joseph Massey, IBBA Executive Vice President, stated that Thomas would bring a new level of member communications and services, since his time with Doguet's Diamond D Ranch gives him firsthand knowledge of what members need and want.

“Garrett Thomas should be a great asset to an already dynamic staff,” Massey said. “Look for him to bring new and innovative ideas to IBBA. I am extremely pleased that we were able to hire someone with his experience, maturity and knowledge of the Brangus breed.”

Thomas is a 2006 graduate of Texas A&M University where he was a member of a historical National Champion Livestock Judging team. Upon graduation he worked at Doguet's Diamond D Ranch as their ranch manager for over two years. While he was there, the Doguet program expanded their annual production sale to include the offering of commercial bulls and also became one of the only Brangus operations to exhibit both the International Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Bull in the same year. Following the 2009 production sale Thomas decided to return to Texas A&M to earn his master's degree in Animal Science while starting his own business, Integrity Marketing. While pursuing his master's, Thomas worked with various breeders as a sale manager and consultant. In 2011 at the International Brangus Show in Houston, Texas, he was named the Black Brangus Herdsman of the Year. Most recently Thomas served on the faculty at Texas State University as a lecturer in the Agriculture department and as their livestock judging team coach.

IBBA's mission is to empower members to advance the quality, reliability and value of Brangus and Brangus influenced cattle; to provide innovative programs and services which enhance the economic well being of members and commercial customers. The IBBA provides its members and commercial customers with the tools and resources to advance the Brangus breed while emphasizing building relationships within the industry upon integrity.

“There is no doubt in my mind that Brangus cattle are easily most versatile in the world, and for me it is truly an honor to get the opportunity to work with the great cattle we have in our breed,” Thomas said. “It is also a pleasure to work with the great set of people that raise Brangus cattle. I have never been around a more passionate group of people who, across the board, are always striving to make improvements and remain among the leaders in the beef industry. Now is the time to turn our attention to taking the next step in the production and promotion of our great breed, Brangus.”
