CHAMPIONS NAMED AT NATIONAL JUNIOR ANGUS SHOW

More than 700 Angus juniors and their families traveled to Kansas City, Mo., to compete in the 2013 National Junior Angus Show (NJAS) July 5-11 at the American Royal Complex.

National Junior Angus Association (NJAA) members honored �Aberdeen in Twenty-Thirteen� as they exhibited 1,066 entries during the weeklong event that included more than a dozen educational contests in addition to the cattle show.

Chris Mullinix, El Dorado, Kan., judged the 672 owned heifers; Spencer Schrader, Wells, Kan., assisted in judging the owned heifers; Jonathan Perry, Fayetteville, Tenn., judged the 223 bred-and-owned heifers, 43 cow-calf pairs, and 60 bulls; Kevin Gallagher, Buda, Texas, assisted in judging the bred-and-owned heifers, and cow-calf pairs; and Ryan Rathmann, Lubbock, Texas, judged the 68 steers.

Sydney Schnoor, Chowchilla, Calif., showed the grand champion owned female, EXAR Envious Blackbird 2611. The winning heifer is a January 2012 daughter of Dameron First Class and was first named junior champion � division 7.

Shayne Myers, Colusa, Calif., led the reserve grand champion owned female. Silveiras Elba 2342 is an April 2012 daughter of Seldom Rest BA Lake Effect and first won reserve junior champion � division 1.

Sydney Schnoor also captured grand champion bred-and-owned female honors with Silveiras Sis Sandy 2354. The May 2012 daughter of Silveiras Style 9303 first won intermediate champion.

Lindsey Pugh, Louisville, Ohio, led the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned female, SCC Royal Blackbird ELL 231. The March 2012 daughter of Dameron First Class was first named late junior champion.

Logan Wright, Philippi, W.Va., won grand champion bred-and-owned bull honors with Wright SCC Bootlegger 0522. The February 2012 son of S A V Brilliance 8077 first won junior champion.

Sydney Schnoor led the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned bull. Silveiras S Sis GQ 2353 is an April 2012 son of Siveiras Style 9303 and was first named reserve junior champion.

Colleen Jones, Kinston, N.C., showed the grand champion owned cow-calf pair.

Gambles Lady 2021 is a February 2011 daughter of S A V Iron Mountain 8066, and first topped the two-year-old division. A December 2012 heifer calf sired by Soo Line Motive 9016 was at side.

Sydney Schnoor also led the reserve grand champion owned cow-calf pair. EXAR Forever Lady 1414 is a January 2011 daughter of Dameron First Class with a February 2013 daughter of Connealy Consensus 7229 at side. The pair first won reserve champion two-year-old pair.

Grady Dickerson, Paradise, Kan., claimed grand champion bred-and-owned cow-calf pair with Bar S Pride 0073, a January 2010 daughter of Plainview Lutton E102. A January 2013 bull calf sired by CTR Industry 827 was at side. The duo first won champion mature pair.

Lauren Grimes, Hillsboro, Ohio, captured reserve grand champion bred-and-owned cow-calf pair with Maplecrest Rita K0240. The September 2010 daughter of PVF ALL PAYDAY 729 had a March 2013 daughter of G A R Predestined. They first won two-year-old pair.

Aliesha Dethlefs, North Platte, Neb., earned grand champion steer honors with SC Dark Horse Z928 928. He is the March 2012 son of Limestone Darkhorse U322.

Ashley McEwen, Bushnell, Ill., led the reserve grand champion steer. TCE Fitty 1217 is a March 2012 son of Hobbs 50/50 Design 396-8W.

Brody Fitzgerald, West Grove, Pa., claimed bred-and-owned grand champion steer with Cherry Knoll Stand Out 1258, a March 2012 son of G 13 Stand Out.

Ryan Callahan, Edmond, Okla., earned reserve grand champion bred-and-owned steer with C&C First Class 2051. He is a March 2012 son of Dameron First Class.
