FOUNDATION WILL FUND ABBA YOUTH IN 2016

At the December 17, 2015 meeting the Brahman Foundation Board agreed to distribute funds to expand opportunities for Brahman youth. In an effort to support youth programs and developing leaders in agriculture, the group allocated $30,000 for use in scholarships, educational opportunities, showmanship and more for the year 2016.

The Foundation is currently hosting an Essay Contest with three age divisions and $2,550 in premiums. The Foundation will also be hosting a one of a kind beef leadership camp at Texas A&M that will be a 2-3 day conference including Beef 706 – a training on meat science, with industry leaders speaking on the beef industry, social media, leadership and Brahman history. There will be no registration fee for AJBA youth to attend as the Foundation allocated $3,000 to help fund the event.

Other programs receiving funds from the Brahman Foundation include the sponsorship of leadership speakers at the All American, $4,400 in increased showmanship premiums at the All American, funding of state junior Brahman affiliate programs, and $5,000 in scholarships for students who participate in leadership contests at the All American. The Brahman Foundation will also supply $13,500 in educational scholarships for Brahman youth in 2016.

“The Brahman Foundation is all about growing the Brahman breed and doing all that we can to educate our future breeders and leaders,” says Brahman Foundation President, Carlos X. Guerra. “The Brahman Foundation encourages and appreciates new ideas. We are dedicated to the future of the American Brahman Breed and the support and development of programs involving youth, education, leadership, scholarships, showmanship, carcass merit and breed research.”
