On May 16th I was in Opelika, Ala. for the Southeast Angus Classic Twelfth Annual Angus Female Sale. Lawler Farm owner Charles Lawler and manager Bruce Randall hosted the event. As always this group of consignors offers an outstanding set of Angus females. The sale grossed $156,200 on 61 lots to average $2,561. Top Fall pair was lot 24 — Homestead Rita 507, 9-5-05 female by N Bar Emulation EXT, bred to SAV Net Worth, consigned by Homestead Farm and sold to Alvarez Angus in Dade City, Fla. For $12,000. Has a 9-3-08 heifer calf, Homestead Rita 808, by Mytty In Focus, sold to Double T Farm in Centre, Ala. for $2,400. The top bred heifer was lot 60 — Plantation Rita, 9-2-07 female by GAR Predestined Bred to SAV Final Answer consigned by Plantation Farms, Elrod, Ala. that sold for $3,500 to Legacy Farms in Springville, Ala. I had a great time representing CATTLE TODAY and helping ringside. Sale manager for the sale was Jarvene and Pat Shackelford with American Livestock Brokers.
