Spring Ridge Cattle Company

I had the opportunity to travel up to Kentucky on June 6th for the Spring Ridge Cattle Company Running The Ridge IV Sale at the ranch in Winchester, Ky. The Horton family offered an excellent set of Charolais cattle. The sale grossed $135,700 on 74 lots to average $1,834. Bred heifers grossed $27,300 on 15 lots to average $1,820. Bred cows grossed $4,550 on 5 lots to average $910. Open heifers grossed $6,050 on 8 lots to average $756. Pairs grossed $59,275 on 30 lots to average $1,976. Cows with bull calf splits grossed $30,875 on 14 lots to average $2,205. One cow with heifer calf split sold for $1,650. Top selling lot was lot 1, a Trademark cow with a Kentake heifer calf at side, sold to Gerry Laumann in Mayer, Minn., for $7,000. Second high selling lot was lot 36, an open donor cow by Wyoming Wind, sold to Bill Garrett in Crossville, Tenn.
