July 4th Weekend

Heber Springs, Arkansas

Heber Springs, Arkansas

I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July weekend.  I spent my weekend in Heber Springs, Ark. on the Greers Ferry Lake.  No, I did not fish any that weekend.  Greers Ferry Lake is a great lake to fish on, however in the summer it has a lot of boat traffic.  If I was going to do any fishing I would go fly fishing on the Little Red River.  The Little Red River is the tail waters of Greers Ferry Lake.  It is known for great trout fishing.  The world record brown trout was caught on the Little Red River.  On the other hand, it has been a long time since I did any fly fishing.  I need to wait until the river is not so crowded before attempting my fly casting!

Back to the reason I started this paragraph, I spent my July Fourth weekend with family and friends in Heber Springs on the water cruising in the boat, swimming and watching other boats go by.  However, most of the weekend we spent eating and grilling on the Bar-B-Q.  Wow! I really need a photo to show what a great time I had, and most important to help take up space in this column.  If you do not know where Heber Springs is located in Arkansas and you’re having a hard time finding it on a map, it is just North of Little Rock.  Driving is about an hour North of Little Rock.
