Sporting Clay Skeet Shooting

Sporting clay skeet shooting, I mentioned in my last blog if I didn’t score well shooting clay skeet I was not going to mention the scores.  I’ll tell you up front I didn’t do too well.  Out of 5 shooters I came in 4th place.  First place was Ronnie Silcox with 58. Second place was Carroll Cannon with 55.  Third place was Paul Wall with 50.  Forth place was me with 46, and Fifth place was Keegan George.  Just to be fair Ronnie, Carroll and Paul did have an advantage.  Ronnie and Paul were both using 12 gauge pump shot guns.  Carroll was using a nice, much more expensive over/under 20 gauge shot gun.  I was using a 20 gauge pump shot gun.  If you don’t know about guns, a 12 gauge is much bigger shot gun than the 20 gauge and the advantage of the over under is you don’t have to pump another shell in.  So to keep the scoring fair I should get a 10 clay skeet handicap which will move me to second place with a score of 56.  That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. The most impressive shooter was Keegan, he came in fifth place.  However, this 12 year old was using my shot gun, plus he tried Carroll’s, Ronnie’s and Paul’s shot gun.  Keegan’s main challenge was just holding the gun up.  However he did a great job shooting 27 clays.  Special thanks to Carroll Cannon for inviting me and putting this skeet shoot together and to Shirley Myers the score keeper.
