On May 30th I was at the Cullman Stockyards in Cullman, Ala. for the Sweet Home Alabama Beefmaster Sale. Consigners Tom and Mary Moore with M&W Farms, Larry and Cecilia Norris with Norris Farms, Harold Pinkerton with Pinkerton & Sons, and Allen and Gail Burnette with A&G Farms came together and offered an outstanding set of Beefmaster cattle. The sale grossed $118,850 on 59 lots to average $2,014. Bulls grossed $4,400 on 2 lots to average $2,200. Three-n-ones grossed $11,400 on six lots to average $1,900. Pairs grossed $29,750 on 16 lots to average $1,860. Bred females grossed $31,750 on 15 lots to average $2,117. Exposed females grossed $14,700 on 10 lots to average $1,470. Open females grossed $24,050 on 9 lots to average $2,672. One pick of open heifers sold for $2,800. Top selling bull was lot 17, Little Doc, a 3-08 bull son of Doc, consigned by M&W Farms, sold to Lee Osborn in Boaz, Ala., for $3,000. Top selling female was lot 12, Staci Too, a 10-05 female out of Miss Staci and sired by Black Magic, consigned by M&W Farms sold to Mackie Bounds in Axtell, Texas, for $6,000. I had a great time representing CATTLE TODAY and helping ringside. Sale manager for the sale was Mike Green with 3G Sales & Services.
