Sale Host Myron Colley
On July 25th I was in Metter, Georgia for the Dixie Heritage Sale; selling registered Santa Gertrudis, Black Angus, and commercial females. The host of the Dixie Heritage Sale Myron Colley, owner of Kersey Colley Farms, along with select consigners offered a good set of cattle. Marketing agent was Dan Davis.
I was unable to get an official sale report however I have had several cattlemen ask about the sale. With a quick glance through the sale catalog the registered Santa Gertrudis and Black Angus females averaged $1,250 to $1,300. The commercial females averaged a least $850. Bulls eight month old to a yearling averaged $450 to $500.
This was the first sale for Myron Colley and like all sales it did not run as planned. We had a few cows get out and a fence or two to not hold. Hey I have been to a number of sales that cattle have jumped out or escaped one way or another. We needed a break, it was a hot day in South Georgia. The cowboys in the back of the barn had a long day. A good crowd of cattleman attended the sale. I had a great time representing CATTLE TODAY and helping ringside.
