Reaching back to August I need to report on The 13th Annual Southern Showcase Simmental Sale held August 15th in Calhoun, Georgia.
Sale Manager Bruce Van Meter with Impact Marketing & Management, Inc. brought a great group of consigners together to offer an excellent set of Simmental and Simmental influence cattle.
The sale grossed $141,200 on 76 lots to average $1,858. Cow-calf pairs grossed $14,750 on 8 lots to average $1,844. Spring bred cows grossed $14,400 on 11 lots to average $1,309. Fall bred cows grossed $14,000 on 9 lots to average $1,556. Spring bred heifers grossed $12,600 on 7 lots to average $1,800. Fall bred heifers grossed $36,400 on 17 lots to average $2,141. Open heifers grossed $7,250 on 5 lots to average $1,450. Proven donors grossed $10,300 on 4 lots to average $2,575. Embryo pregnancies grossed $14,500 on 10 lots to average $1,450. Frozen embryos grossed $15,200 on 4 lots to average $3,800. One pick of the herd sold for $1,800. High selling lot was lot 4- Bred Heifer, ANDJ Sara Beth T24, consigned by Jay Anderson in St. Paul, NE. sold for $4,750 to Select Enterprises in Rome, Georgia.
A large crowd of cattlemen was on hand for this sale offering. I had a great time representing CATTLE TODAY and helping ringside.
