New York Strips in Wine Sauce

4 New York Strip Steaks, cut 1 " thick
1 tbsp melted butter
1 tbsp dry red wine
2 tbsp chopped green onions
2 cups sliced mushrooms
1/2 cup dry red wine
1 cup beef stock
pinch of dried thyme


Brush steaks with mixture of 1 tbsp each melted butter and dry red wine. Season with pepper. Broil using medium high heat for 5-7 minutes per side for rare or 7-9 minutes/side for medium, turning once with tongs. While steaks broil, sauté green onions and mushrooms in oiled non-stick pan until softened. Add dry red wine, beef stock and thyme. Simmer briskly until slightly thickened. Serve spooned over steaks.
