Tractor value???

Postby Bigfoot » Thu Sep 28, 2017 9:43 am

7000 Ford. 3500 hours. Old school cab, with no air. Original paint, but decals show the age. What's that worth in your area?

There is a clean low hour 7000 that is nice and tight with near new rubber all the way around locally for $7500, told the guy when he gets to $5500 give me a call. (its been for sale for a while). No cab on the one here but having spent many hours in one of those cabs IMO it detracts from the value.

I know they had some recurring problems with the hydraulics/power steering system..
Our Ford County is a cousin of the 7000...

If you need a big clutzy brute of a tractor it might be alright, though if I needed cheap horsepower I'd probably look elsewhere.. Massey 1100 or something. Parts for the 7000's are probably getting harder to find these days.

A 7000 isn't "clutzy" at all, for an 86hp tractor they are pretty nimble. If its a 7000 with dual power or load monitor they can have some hydraulic issues but nothing too major (no worse than a Massey with multipower). As with any old diesel they can suffer from block cavitation if the coolant hasn't been maintained. As for parts most everything is available from your local CNH dealer and they are plentiful on the aftermarket and used market as well (way better than a Massey of the era).

Having owned both a 7000 and a massey 1100 I would take the Ford for a long day in the field and year after year reliability any day.

I was actually wanting to get rid of a fairly new Massy, and get back to heavy iron. I will feel him out, but I can't imagine he'd come down as much as I'd like.

Leave it where it sits until the owner stops dreaming and snaps back into reality. 7k max for me that's if everything and great condition. :2cents: Cab no air is a sauna.

My bad BF thought you were selling.

By the time you put a loader and fix the ac on that one, you could have bought a dang nice tractor. I just bought a 5083E on auctiontime, saved about 10 grand. Its the best place to buy for the dollar in my book. :2cents:

The tractor was only 5 miles from the stockyard, so on my way to get my check, I stopped by to see it. Tachometer broke in the mid 80's, battery was dead (he knew that, when I left the house), he has brush painted the rims, and tops of the fenders, with what I believe to be oil base house paint, and needed 4 new tires. Nice fella though, enjoyed meeting him.

Paid 7500 for a 2940JD and that is all that tractor is and then some. At least you got to meet a nice guy, doesn't sound like you found a tractor to buy though.

So it had 3500 hrs in the mid 80's when the tach broke? in other words you have no idea how many hours are on it now... Tires are done.. I really don't think I'd look at this one anymore.
