Futures are up significantly this week but it sure isn't being reflected in country price.

Well I'm overall satisfied with the prices. They split the steers up. Thought the heavy 5wts. could have done a little better but they were probably carrying a little more flesh. I would say that the light 5wts. more than made up for it though.

Steers
512 @ 1.52
591 @ 1.26

Heifers
506 @ 1.20

 That's a home run in today's market. Interesting to see the lighter weights dollared out more.

I didn't catch in your original post that they were weaned. That makes lots of difference. And if they feed anything close to what your feeding it helps also.

My thoughts only, don't bet the farm on them. KT

Shipping bawling calves 3 days before sale day would be a train wreck as far as shrink goes. We feed our calves a commodity mix and the sale barn is supposed to feed something similar.

Last year our shrink was next to nothing. This year it's been alitte more but no more than 3% from farm scale.

3% is very acceptable to me. You must be doing something right.

Cattle prices just keep creeping up. Sure glad we didn't go by what last year's market did.

Sold some calves today.

Steers #444 at $1.78
Sure didn't think we would see that price for along time.

Weaker market here. Buyers still want heavy steers.
Hard to get over $1.35 for 5 wt steers.
Single 5 wt heifers are $1 to $1.05.
