Hello from Alabama

Postby uhpilot » Wed Jul 13, 2016 10:18 am

Hello all, I live in Alexandria, AL (north of Anniston). I'm a retired Army Helo pilot and current EMS Helo pilot.

I don't own any cattle or livestock now but the wife and I are currently looking for about 40 or so acres in my area to build our "forever home" and I'm thinking of maybe getting into cattle a little once we do. I am wanting to learn what I can about it (good and bad) before I jump into it and that is what led me to this site. So far I have found a lot of good information, albiet some of the terms used are still greek to me. LOL

Welcome to CT.. Lots of opinions and knowledge here...

My advice is start small with cows that know what to do (until you know more).

The only possible end result of treating all animals like people is that all people will be treated like animals

My "plan" is to start with maybe 10 (price and acreage depending) bred mommas. I have a friend that farms that I'm going to go to a sale with when he goes again so he can help me learn what to look for etc.

Blackhawks are what I flew the most. But started out in Hueys first and then retired out of OH-58s
