still births

Postby GordonT » Sat Jul 16, 2016 9:35 pm

We have had our cow for about 9 years. She has been bred 8 times, the first was born early deformed. Threes have been still births. One made it until she also was bred then died herself. Only one bull calf (steer) was sold at auction.

The cow was purchased from a live stock transfer and had been raised in the hills. Some folk tell us she had to have been bitten by ticks to cause this.

Can anyone tell us what if anything we are doing wrong or what we should be doing prior to her giving birth.

Thank you,

Deformed?
How?
Enlarged head?

Sell the cow, she should have been gone years ago.
I would make sure you get up to date on your vaccinations if you aren't already.
Wait... "our cow".... do you only have one?

She should of been gone after the first one, or at least the second.

First, welcome to the forum. Now, to answer your questions, I doubt that you're doing anything wrong and don't know of anything you can be doing prior to her giving birth. I would also recommend you replace her.
