New to the site
Hi, this is my first time here. Not new to cattle though. Bred Polled Herefords for over 25 years with my husband but now we have cross bred cattle. As I've aged it got easier to breed the smaller breeds, Dexter's, Galloway's and such. My partner likes to "play" with genetics as much as I do so we've been crossing my bulls with his Holsteins and Jersey's(he's a dairyman). BUT, we've been "playing" with some Belgian Blue and Panda(mini Hereford/Belted Galloway), plus Lineback. One day we got it in our heads to breed my Panda bull(39") with a few of his virgin Holstein heifers. There are 3 due next summer by him. But we really can't wait to see what happens when we let my Panda breed his Belgian Blue heifers. This hasn't happened yet as the heifers are just weanlings & they are half Holstein. I'm wondering if anyone has crossed a mini bull with BB heifers. www.milkmaidranch.com

The plan is to get shorter legs but beefier bodies, faster development for a faster return to get them in the freezer faster. My Panda bull is 39" and has bred 8 standard sized Holstein heifers. He learned to breed them while standing on a hill, they being on the low side of it. My Dexter did the same thing for 2 years. His daughters are now getting ready to calve starting in Feb for their first time. We are also AI'ing with a Dexter and Panda bull.
