Tennessee Tuxedo...I am truly a greenhorn when it comes to cattle. My dad was a butcher all his life and I was raised on a farm with pigs, chickens, cats, dogs, and the landlord we had owned cattle . We just never raised them ourselves and I just bought a dairy cow from a friend. She was out to pasture and they're pretty sure she's bred but I am having to learn everything....eeek...I love the cow aka Dollly... I just don't want to kill her by mistake. I research and ask lots of questions so hopefully between the vet and a lot of hands on experienced people Dolly and me will make it through this newbie stage I'm in.

Welcome, and no, you're not the only newbie. And that's a good thing.

If the cow is an adult she probably knows what to do. Eat grass, drink water, poop. You will learn.
