Hey Everybody,
I've "lurked" on this board for quite a few months reading about lots of topics. I go to LSU-Baton Rouge, and i'm majoring in Agribusiness with a minor in Animal Science. My family owns a farm in Benton with about 105 cows on 350 acres. We've been in an awful drought since May, but we've gotten 6 inches of rain this week, so things might finally be looking up now!

Not sure where Benton is, though.

Benton is about 1/2 hour northeast of Shreveport... it's in Bossier Parish.

What are Parishes? I watched a movie recently called the Skeleton Key and it took place outside of New Orleans in Terrabone Parish. And Welcome Rough-n-Ready.

Lee since you go to LSU you can take a joke.

I joke that anyone living above Alexandria is in a different state. Down here (I'm 30 miles north of Baton Rouge on False River) there is nothing but fertile flat land with hardwood forests, and heavy drinkers and cajuns (I'm one). Above Alexandria the state turns into hills and pine trees. And worst of all, alcohol is hard to get. That's not good for someone who learned to tailgate at Tiger stadium.

The campus has changed a lot in the last 15 years, but I still go religiously to the campus for games (season ticket holder).

LA has the distinction of being the only state to have parishes. Goes way back to Napoleonic times. Many people in Louisiana are Catholic (catholic communities are called parishes).
