Hello, I am Mickey Allen. I have been reading this board for over a year now and posting every now and then. I run mostly a cow / calf operation in Lexington, Alabama (Lauderdale County). I have mostly angusX cows with a few red cows and a few brahmanX cows. I am using angus and balancer bulls at this time. I enjoy the replys from the cattlemen and cattlewomen of this board and find a lot of valuable information here.

Hey Mallen, I think I've posted on some of your strings before. I have to say I love the name of your farm!

A big official welcome.

Haven't received the propaganda as of yet.

As for the farm name, it is a carry over of the community I grew up in near Lexington, Alabama. And yes, there are a lot of sweetgum trees there.

Sweetgum's an interesting tree. When you cut it, the sapwood gums (pun intended) up your saw. When you mill it the heartwood looks as pretty as walnut. But when you dry it, and use it, it twists, warps, and dances worse than a bad cajun :(
