I have been reading these boards for about 2 weeks. It has been so fun and I've learned alot!
We have been ranching about 18 months. We live on a 170 in SW MO. We have 8 kids and homeschool. We also raise free range eggs. Can't keep up with the demand!
Our herd is mostly black...do have a 20 month old reg. Angus bull. Have a few charlais and baldys. We bought stupid and got an old cull herd that we have had to cull heavily. But the calves were all great. Now have 26 head total. 3 are replacement heifers we have bred...seven steers we'll butcher in the fall.
Have appreciated all the advise! Thanks!

Welcome to the boards. Sounds like you have a fun place. I say kids are like barns and ponds , you can't have too many good ones.

Welcome to the boards, cowmomma! Sounds like you don't have a lot of free time, but compensate for it with good times!
