I have re-learned the lesson every year since I was about eight years old: Even if I can get decent germination and a few fairly healthy plants, my harvest will be at the same time as it is for the plants of the same variety that I sow later on when the ground is really ready. :bang:
Luckily this year I'm busy enough that putting things off isn't so hard but I'm off of the breeding route part of my jobs for the next three days wih clear skies in the 60's and every bone in my body is screaming "SCREW your stupid fence work, it's time to PLANT something!"
Last month when I was off for two days and had the same overwhelming urge, I used scrap lumber and built a greenhouse in one day so alot of my summer garden is already underway.

Mine's plowed. Potatoes planted. Onions are up. I'm itching to plant some peas and beans. Groundhog did see his shadow and if you can't trust the groundhog then who can you trust?!

Rain woke me up again early this morning. :(

It has rained so far, 9 out of 12 days this month.

Grey,
I just hope the rain stays consistant and I won't have to feed hay this summer.

I don't even think about planting in the garden until mid May. Usually don't plant until late May sometimes into June. I could plant earlier but I would just get to do it again so I wait.

It's time to plant cabbage and lettuce. If it stays warm like this might have to break out the corn planter.

only going to be 32 acres this year. You can only get burned so many times before you cry uncle, and 2 years of low production corn is enough.

Hard frost last night--had to cover my new orange tree---it already had little tiny oranges on it.
