Planted it in 5 30 ft rows spaced at 10" each way. Only about 30 plants germinated though.

You can plant in 16" squares and the corn will pollinate just fine. All you do is put 2 seeds in each corners of the square. I've seen it grown this way up north in a lot of gardens. And I asked why and everyone told me for pollination reasons.

hook you have a pollination problem among other things

The thirty plants would be the cause of the poor pollination. Did you have good seed to soil contact? Here sweet corn requires 150-100-120-9-1 per acre. Planted at 35,000 ppa.

I'd be looking at micronutrient deficiencies, perhaps Boron.
