I checked into that a couple of years ago and cell/internet is sketchy at the farm. I'd have a camera setup if I could get internet at the barn. Sorry for your troubles. Maybe she will rebound.

I didn't have a good preg check with them-too many opens-the bull tested good-and now they are really strung out. One a week. I let my guard down and had one calve early yesterday morning. Calf was dead and she won't get up. Won't eat or drink. I expect her to get up during the night, stagger over to the pond and fall in. Might as well shoot her now?

No, give her some time. Make sure she has water & food available, as in right next to her. You may even have to drench her and she probably has a pinched nerve. Dex usually helps.

Sorry about the disappointing results with your heifers.

Thanks for the encouragement. I've been giving her Dex and she does have food & water. She tried to get up today, actually stood for a couple of seconds. I expect she'll stand soon and probably try to attack me. :lol2:

Finally. Big heifer around 110 to 115 was the hardest pull I've had to date. Took mom a little while to get her feet but was mothering it when I left.

Thanks, but a little to big. I went out to the farm @ 3:00 and I don't think she ever got up to nurse. Her front legs aren't working, so I'm thinking the shoulders are out of joint. She's in the bed of my truck at the moment waiting on the vet to open. He doesn't do after hours.

Congrats on the big pull. Maybe just the color on my pc but it looks like the calf has some meconium staining.

Thanks. I can never tell with these calves as they are born fawn and being wet intensifies the color. She's dried now and doesn't appear that way.

Had a friend keeping the heifer at their place and I just got the call that the heifer didn't make it. Can't win them all I guess.
