Where 2 Get It?

Postby I luv herfrds » Sun Nov 06, 2011 1:06 pm

I'm running out of my sanitizing powder that I use in my clean up process and the place I got it from is no longer around.
I cannot remember the name of the powder other then Chlor something.
I use 1/4 teaspoon per 1 gallon of water as the directions say.

Been doing search after search and have not found the same thing. Found liquids and tablets.
Getting down to the wire where I will have to use bleach again. yuck!

There's got to be a dairy supply that services the few dairy's left in the state . Try calling Western Ranch Supply and see if the can give you a lead or DariGold and see if their fieldman can give you a lead.

We use Cascade with Bleach and hot water. It is an all in one product for dishwashers. Works great. Doesn't foam a lot and rinses clean.

You can also rinse with a clorox bleach solution.

The soap should do ok...just make sure the water is HOT!! Sanitize with chlorine afterward.

the cascade cuts it. our machine has an old glass weigh jar & the dishwashing soap cleans it well. we have an immersble water heater that gets the water extremely hot.
we are very careful about keeping everything clean.

I just don't want to wreck any more clothes with bleach.
This stuff I'm using you mix it with the hot water and let sit for 2 minutes and let air dry.

Too funny mlazyj, like the local dairy would share any info with me. They don't want competition.

you won't wreck clothes with bleach. You only have to use a couple of tablespoons per gallon of water.

Run it through and let it dry. The chlorine disapates when dry.

This is the bucket heater that I have http://www.valleyvet.com/ct_detail.html?pgguid=2e87c5d7-7b6a-11d5-a192-00b0d0204ae5&gas=water%20heater%20for%20buckets

years ago when i worked for Diversey we had a powdered organic chlorine that was really good. Klenzade had one too.

challenge then is to find a dairy supply dealer that handles one of those and request it from them.

Have not kept up with the changes in the stuff as it is not what I have done in fifteen years so my information may be dated.

If you are near a city of any size check for a dealer of restaurant cleaning chemicals and they likley would have it as well. A lot of the same type products are used in commercial kitchens and food processing plants. Around Central Virginia I see Ecolab trucks all the time and they are a division of Klenzade or vice versa. :deadhorse:

You've got ecolab over there? Is it Chlor-Klenz or something of the sort.

I can't find a NZ website for them and the .com one isn't very helpful, but certainly ecolab have a range of products marketed here that will do all the milk plant cleaning likely to be needed. I might be able to write down some product names in an hour or so - heading into town shortly.

I'm thinking the 'sit for two minutes' is to enable what we call 'contact time'? - in a normal farm situation we do the same by simply ensuring enough water is sucked through the plant that the surfaces are in constant contact with the cleaning agent + water for 2 - 5 minutes.

The ecolab chlorinated alkali powder is called Kleer-Klenz. For some reason the Chlor name rings a bell but I can't remember the rest of the name or who produces it... I'm fairly sure it's another chlorinated alkali.
Agmax is the only company I know that produces acid sanitiser in a powder form, usually it comes as a liquid.

These products are all produced locally in NZ by Ecolab so I don't know if the names will be of much use.
Kleer-klenz chlorinated alkali @ 400 g/kg sodium hydroxide, comes in powder form.
liquid acid sanitisers are Aquaklenz HV, Klenz-alltemp and Optimum2, based on phosphoric and sulphuric acid.
liquid akali products are called principal and exelerate
and there's a sodium hypochlorite marketed under the name XY12... but I buy the cheap stuff that's the same. I don't use ecolab, but they're as good as any others on the market.

mlazyj we have the Udder Company up here. A family owned dairy that supplies milk to different places.
I had contacted them with some questions about milking my Jersey milk cow and they wouldn't talk to me. Don't want competition from a single cow.
I ended up talking to a dairy in Vermont who answered all my questions.

We do not milk our Herefords, just my Jersey.

Yes I looked at that, but it does not tell me how much water that one tablet treats.
