I did see a mostly Black Angus bull of unknown parentage mated to a solid black cow produce a calf of that color.
Don't know what was in the wood pile to produce that coloring, but whatever gene it was, it was obviously a recessive as both parents were solid black so both had to be carriers.

It's a diluter gene, you can't have a hidden diluter gene as even one copy of diluter gene can shows in the animal (being grey).

I'm thinking that bull is either a seasoned fella or been eating not so good groceries. His head is the size of a Volkswagen and gets fairly stream line from there!
