I met this guy today at Orscheln's. He was hauling 20 mules to California. I had no idea they were so valuable. He said they brought between $4k to $7k.

That is almost 4,000 miles round trip.

The ones that wind up on magazine covers can go for a LOT more than that!

I was so deep in to mules, at one point in my life, it had just about taken over. When my kids were born, I dropped it like a hot rock. I didn't click the link, but I know Max. Good guy. I had heard he passed away. Glad the info was wrong.

Reigning and roping mules was my specialty. Btw.

10 years ago, I could get 4K fairly quickly for a 15 hand quarter mule with a little handle, and a set of brakes.

I am not sure it was Max. I was matching his picture on the website to the guy I met.
