Florida Bull Test

Postby gizmom » Wed Nov 15, 2017 8:53 pm

Our son Jacob had to make a quick run over to Marianna today for a meeting. I asked him if he had time to stop in and look at our bulls at the test. He didn't have much time but sent me a couple pictures.

Image

This is test #1677 our calf number D45 reg# 18807913 He is a SAV Resource out of SAV Blackcap May 2315 he is developing into a pretty good rip.

Image

If I am reading the tag right this is test number 1675 our calf number D34 reg# 18807242 A Charlo calf out of a nice young cow that traces back to our Elluna donor 0168 a direct daughter of VDAR Elluna 97.

Image

Again if reading tag correctly this is 1676 our tag D13 reg# 18807237 he is an SAV Recharge our of a young cow out of Rito 6EM3 of 4L 1 Emblazon.

I plan to use either the D13 or the D34 bull on heifers this year, I just can't for the life of me figure out which one to use.

They really look good. Very powerful. When were they born?

Nice bulls as always. Thanks for the pics. You can't go wrong using either bull or both. It would be very hard to say from just one pic of each. By pedigree I would likely use D13 but by pic I might go with D34. Please keep us informed how they continue to perform and what one you decide to use.

D13 -DOB 9/19/2016

D34 - DOB - 9/26/2017

D45 - DOB -10/0202017

I agree based on the photos, Jacob told me that the D34 bull is in a different pen and he didn’t get as good a look at him as he did the other two. But he is leaning toward the D13 from what he saw yesterday for use on the heifers. I am better with pedigrees than Jacob but he has a better eye for phenotype than I do so I will let him pick, I like the pedigree of all three of the calves. The D45 bull will not work on heifers.

:dunce: my bad yep all 2016 calves. We just finished doing yearling measurements on the Bulls we are developing here at the home place. I think it is the best set of bulls to date. The heaviest bull weighed 1280 with the lightest weight 886 which was also the youngest bull in the group. I plan to keep D26 the heavy weight calf he is a Recharge out of 811 a Pathfinder cow that has been a favorite of mine since birth. D26 has been a stud since birth, he hits all the right buttons for me phenotype, genetics and performance.

They look great. Probably the best I've seen of all your young bulls that you've posted, and that's high praise.
