We've mixed permethrin with diesel and we've mixed it with mineral oil (in a pump sprayer). They don't like the diesel and are harder to hit with it, as the smell chases them off faster. But the flies hate it more as well, and it seems to last longer than mineral, so we end up using whatever's on hand.

I sprayed them with a water permethrin mix yesterday and all the flies were gone quickly. Now to see how long it lasts.

How much 10 percent permethrin do you add per gallon of diesel?

I use one oz of 38% permethrin and 1/2 oz of crop oil to a gallon of water.

Don't use Diesle in your sprayer.
Also I like ultrasaber better than ultraboss on cattle. Ultraboss for horses though. They can't take the lambda-cy.
I mixed up homemade ultrasaber today and used on some calves we worked.

Here's what makes ultraboss and ultrasaber work well. Don't have to have it though.

Sorry I duplicated this post because I did not see it this morning and thought it didn't go thru. It would then not let me delete the second one. Sorry.

I only have the 10% permethrin. Where do you get the 38%?

10% works too but the mixing ratio is different. Instead of an ounce you need to use 4 ounces. usually 38% is cheaper to use....something like $20 vs $30 for 4 times the power.
Here is the label for 10%.

I'd say you are less likely to over use 10% in sensitive situations.

My directions call for 1.5 oz of 10% concentrate per gallon of water. I didn't end up mixing in any oil.

It will still kill the flies just won't stay as long. I make a pour on with 1gal corn oil, 6.5oz pbo8, and 6.5oz permethrin it's a generic for ultra boss. It'll keep flies off for a few weeks, sometimes longer.

When we work cattle we pour it down their back. When the cattle are in pastures that don't have access to pens I cube them in a line and drive the Mule down the line with a sprayer on back and spray them. They let me get real close on the Mule.

I keep saying that I am going to rig up some thing to do one of the hanging ones but I never do. Its always so hard when you are rotating and moving cattle. I've see portable mineral feeders that have spots built on to hang fly stuff.

I did a mix like that this weekend with lambda-cy.
Used a little higher rate of lambda though.
Poured it on their backs, got some on me and it ate me up for 2 days. Usually lambda only burns for a day.
