Sorry you lost her Nesi. Clearly she had some other issue going on, other than the heat. As raven said, put it behind you and move on.

Did you do a Necropsy on her? I'm curious on what the cause was myself.
If we'd of know this we'd of picked our own cotton.

Sorry to hear that, Nesi. And now you have another orphan. How's the calf doing?

Not good Nesi, you can move on now. I doubt that it had anything to do with ticks, something more chronic.

If I knew what to look for I'd have done a necropsy.. be just cutting around isn't going to be enlightening.

Calf is fine.. not bawling or anything.. might be stealing a bit somewhere.. He's in the same boat Chester is I guess

Hate to hear it Nessie I would bet on hardware disease, but no matter what caused it you have suffered a loss, and it hurts.

today both the orphans had broken into a nice lush field.. I let them be.

I can't decisively exclude hardware for sure.. that cow ALWAYS had her head through the fence, thus a likely candidate for eating staples she pops out.. I've had it about up to *here* with that family of cows, they ALL are hard on fences.. the rest of them at least are nice cows
