Fly control in the South

Postby Phil » Tue Apr 20, 1999 7:41 am

I live in North Mississippi and have a small herd of
black cattle(six). I would like to hear how other folks
in the Southeast control flies on their cattle.
What's the best for your situation? Ear tags, spray,
feed or mineral additive, powders or a combination of
these.
Any comments would be appreciated!
Phil

Hey Phil
No more than you have,I would spray them.Works good & you can see the results quickly. This is assuming your cows are docile & will let you get close to them.We usually put out a little feed when we spray ours.Tags require handling the cow.Oral lavarcides require a continous ingestion.Rubs must be put in a place where they have to pass--no easy task.
