That's what I think. But they only read the tag from 4 to 7 inches away. Good for a chute.

Have heard poor things on those.

I have a couple of gallagher wands - work real well. Didn't sask have funding for such things?

Yes, they do. But, I really don't need one bad enough to spend $1200-$1500 even if I do get half back. Just thought this looked like it might be more accurate than, writing the number down. LOL

If I was going to use one it would probably only get used at preg checking time so that might just do the trick.

I use RFIDs as my backup ID. Really only read them when we've bought new cattle and I'm adding them to my record system, or occasionally when someone loses a tag.
