:lol2: so it’s z tags or junk eh haha.
I have been using the Z tags as well, they work for the EID buttons as well as the tags (for the ones made by Z tags)
I got the tagger for free from my stockyard if I buy 100 tags

Here's what's nice about the Ztagger, It automatically releases after tagging, and the pin can rotate, so (especially on adult animals) if they pull away from you it doesn't snag. the one thing I don't like is they don't have a latch to keep them closed.. minor inconvenience though.

Whereabouts are you?
Edit: 604.. must be lower mainland BC
Yes. We are in Langley, BC. What tagger do you use to get those required transportation tags in?
I use the Z tags, I get mine from the BC livestock coop in Kamloops...
All in all, I'd say choose what's convenient for you, use the tagger that matches your ear tags and that you don't have to travel all over he;;'s half acre to get..

I use the Universal total tagger Plus - although, mine is outdated, I don't have the pin that "flips" out of the way. Nice feature. Makes the reason for the Z tagger mute, if you really don't like their tags.

I like the second option, the Universal. I use one for Ritchie tags and another for the Allflex (different pins). Doesn't take up much space in the tool box, or you can slide it into your tool pocket in your Carhart bibs. I bought a tool similar looking to the first option but made by Ytex. I modified it to work on Allflex tags. The idea was that it required much less strength to apply the tag and my dad's hand strength was slipping but he liked to help. It worked well enough, but he doesn't tag anymore so the tagger sits on the shelf.

I have a couple of these - https://www.valleyvet.com/ct_detail.htm ... B0D0204AE5

depends on how many you tag at a time, the green one might be a little better for jumpy big stuff but not sure it is really worth $25 more.
I haven't ever used the retractomatic, mostly because I am cheap (see reason for using old red ones, LOL).

So I went and checked our ear tagger and it was the one I was about to buy. I went to the coop and asked them if I just need a new one. And this is how you know you're a rookie and should stick to hobby farming. Turns out there is a piece of plastic I was supposed to take out before using the thick government required tags :)

We have been using allfex for the last 20 years. There arent many trees to hang them on, just the occasional fence line. About 12 or so years ago, we had a problem with a batch but none since

I like Y tex pretty well but I try not to shop at TSC and only use the local Coop who just carries Allflex. So I use Allflex

The Ytex will also work with the Richie Tags.
