#1 pic, I'd say that's a Soapberry tree with pretty good confidence. Bird's I.D. not an easy one. I'll keep thinking on that. Look like they're hunkered down and ready to jump ship.

Problem is I'm not US, don't like babies and have no idea what a roll tide might be. Lucky I enjoy the photography for its own sake!

Since I successfully managed to be the only person without a vote, I will spill the beans. Not robins, sparrows of some sort. You are right that its a soapberry or similar tree. What I really enjoyed about this picture is all the geometry and beauty combined with the fact this was taken in Manhattan. I took a series of B&W shots in NYC the last time I was there.

Excellent pic, one of the best in the group. Probably English Sparrows with those big heads.
