Had four 2017 grassy hay samples tested. I knew they were not the greatest (wet year and late cutting) but was a bit surprised. The RFV ranged from 78 to 106... Should be fine for cows but think I need better feed for back grounding. Is it practical to push a good grain mix, and expect limited intake of free choice hay like this? Or would I be better off just buying in good alfalfa?
